From Johnell Bell, field director for the office of U.S. Senator Jeff Merkley:
The Otto and Verdell Rutherford Congressional Internship provides an opportunity for Oregonian students who seek to experience public policy-making up close and further the cause of economic and social justice.
The position is designed specifically for students who otherwise would not be able to afford the opportunity to intern in our nation's capital. Senator Merkley offers an approximately $5000 stipend for the position, based in his Washington, D.C. office, for the 2017 summer term.
Otto and Verdell Rutherford championed civil rights in Oregon. Some details about the Rutherford’s contributions to our state can be found here.
You can download a PDF from our website about the Otto and Verdell Rutherford Congressional Internship with information about how to apply.
